Voice

Direct. Confident. A little blue-collar. We talk like a flagger at a startline: clear instructions, no fluff. Avoid corporate softening words like "solutions," "leverage," and "empower."

Naming

Always written as Sideways Data: two words, both capitalized. Domain is sidewaysdata.com. Never "SidewaysData" in body copy. Never "Side-Ways Data."

C

Clear Space

Keep clear space around the mark equal to the height of the "S" in the wordmark. Do not crop, rotate, recolor, drop-shadow, or place the mark on a busy photo without a tint overlay.

D

Typography

Poppins is the system. Headings: 600–700 weight, generous letter-spacing on uppercase labels. Body: 400–500. Don't substitute fonts to "match your team."

E

Color Use

Red is an accent, not a flood. Use it for the mark, primary actions, and live state. Headlines stay near-black on white. Avoid red on grey, and never red on red.

F

Photography

Real cars, real people, real dirt. Stock photography of generic businesspeople is off-brand. When in doubt, shoot it at an event.

DO
  • Use the wordmark at minimum 80 px wide on screen.
  • Place the reversed mark on backgrounds darker than #333.
  • Honor the red: one accent color, one job.
DON'T
  • Recolor the mark or apply gradients.
  • Stretch, skew, or outline the logo.
  • Use the bumper sticker art in place of the logo.
